Immortal
Yandere Lich x Afab Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was no such thing as magic or monsters. They were old tales once used to scare children… or so she thought.
What stood before her could not be described as a man… no. This was no man, but a monster parading around in the flesh of her lover. An undead monster with malevolent glowing ruby eyes in his pitch black eye sockets.
“You weren’t supposed to see me like this, my dear…” The creature’s husky voice whispers. He outstretches his hand to try to tuck a strand of hair behind her face, but she flinched away when some of the skin falls off his hand to reveal more skeleton. “This skin had started to decay too quickly… I don’t mean to scare you-“
(Your name) could only scream as she tried to flee, but something invisible held her in her place. Her feet now stuck to the ground like a tree as her body trembles like a leaf under his intense gaze.
“W-who are you?”
“It’s me, Aeron.” The undead creature gave her a bow, his rotten hand now tenderly caresses her face. “I’m your lover of course-“
(Your name) fails to shift her head away, her body convulsing in sobs when he presses the teeth of his skeletal face in an attempt to kiss her. More of Aeron’s flesh fell off in the process, the soft skin now sat on her shoulder. Tears spill from her eyes in horror.
“This is quite a sight for your eyes, my dear…” ‘Aeron’ pulls back with a sigh, he peels off the rest of the skin off his face to reveal an entire skeleton save for his ruby eyes. “I sadly do not have the same appealing appearance I had a millennium ago… but I simply could not stay away once I sensed you were back in this world.”
Aeron grabbed her hands and held them up to his rotted chest. The black metal band on his skeletal ring finger terrifies her to her very core. This monster was not her fiancé… “My heart may long be gone but I swear it beat only for you. I had no reason to have flesh or organs once you ceased to exist…” Aeron pressed his teeth to her soft hands with a cry. “I miss being able to touch you… to feel you. I envy that man who was in my place for a brief time but he is no more. He hasn’t been for a few years now actually.”
Aeron then sat back, his terrifying face tilted to the side when her tears didn’t stop falling. “My dear why do you cry? Do you not remember me? My name? I… I don’t quite remember my name either so I borrowed your temporary lover’s.”
“W-what are you?” (Your name) stutters out. This monster has been by her side for three years and she never noticed… how could she not notice?
“Well I am what you would call a lich. I sacrificed my humanity for immortality so I could meet you again once you were reborn. I was once your lover over a thousand years ago.” Aeron threw his hands up in the air. “I eliminated all other magic in this world so nothing could ever harm you again. I didn’t want something as silly as priests to stop us from being together again. How lucky was I that you weren’t chosen to be the saintess again.”
(Your name) watches the lich ramble. She was lost and didn’t have a clue on what he spoke of. They were lovers a thousand years ago and he waited a millennium to be reunited with her? She was a saintess? Then what was he?
“My dear, don’t question it too much. You’ll hurt you head.” The lich snapped his fingers, the flesh flew back onto his body and repaired itself. A familiar handsome man with dark hair stood before her now. Aeron smiled at her. “We can just pretend this never happened again… just like he have for the last three times you found out.”
“The what?” A hand was waved over her face and (your name) no longer knew what she was about to say… or why she was upset in the first place. “Aeron? What happened?”
“You just had a bit of a headache my dear. How about I make you a cup of tea to help?” Aeron rubs her back in a reassuring manner, his red eyes filled with love. “Just sit on the couch okay? I’ll take care of everything.”
(Your name) nods her head and goes over to sit down on the couch. She plops her body down while Aeron fetches her a fresh cup of tea.
Aeron smiles at his reflection in the window. Yes… this human face will do for now. All he has to do is convince her to stay with him forever. He wouldn’t fail this time… he had her wrapped around his finger rather than on opposite sides during a war.
Aeron was no longer an enemy necromancer but her lover. Her fiancé.
He’d burn the whole world down again if he had to. Aeron would do anything for his love… he’s already sold his soul and waiting a millennium for her. What was another thousand years to a lich?

I have an idea but can’t put it to words please help me.
Skeleton bf X Human reader
You sit on the couch, back straight as a rod, and on your third official date with your hopefully soon-to-be Skeleton bf. You had been set up by a mutual friend who thought you two would be absolutely perfect together. You trusted your friend and you were coming to trust the man next to you. Enough so that you felt comfortable going over to his place to have dinner and watch a romantic movie.
Skeleton Suitor was fascinated by humans and what they could do. He doesn’t remember much of his own time as a human and now as an Eldritch Linch his life is obviously very different. You actually thought it was quite sweet, to see him experience casual human interactions for the first time again.
Kind of like now, for instance. You can see Skeleton Suitor’s eyes boring into the television as you watch the film. Usually, you’d probably be a little freaked out if a guy was watching a make-out scene so intensely. But with him you simply found it endearing. His yearning was plain to see and it made your heart race a little.
“W-what does it feel like? This human form of connection?” He suddenly asks and you jump in your skin as his voice breaks through the quiet atmosphere.
Your cheeks tinge pink as you try and explain. Mouth parting and closing, sputtering to attempt putting it into words. No one had ever really asked you that. What it felt like to be kissed by someone you liked. Your cheeks grow hotter as an idea crosses your mind.
“Would you like to find out? With me that is,” you quickly offer in a bashful manner.
Skeleton Suitor’s head whirls around to look at you, jaw dropping a little. His glowing eyes glimmer a little more brightly and your smile widens, realizing just how much you truly want to kiss him.
“Yes, I believe I’d like that very much. With you,” he responds, so formally you almost question if he actually does. But then he moves.
His tentacles reach you before his hands do. You jump a little, gaze darting to them. Their smooth slick texture wraps around your arms and your full waist and he pulls you to him with ease. A short gasp leaves you as you’re drawn along the sofa, your hands landing on his surprisingly firm chest as you reach him.
“Are you sure you would like to kiss me?” He asks in a nervous whisper. Your eyes flicker between his and his mouth, nodding eagerly.
His hands rattle, revealing how bad he’s shaking. Yet as his hands come up to cup your cheeks they grow more sturdy. You melt into his touch, conveniently leaning closer to him as well. Skelton Suitor inhales shakily.
He glances at the tv once more as if checking with himself how it’s meant to be done. Then his attention is on you and you know you’re currently occupying every single one of his thoughts. Both of you lean in slowly, the tension growing and simmering more the less distance is between you.
Just as your lips reach his smooth mouth, a tentacle that acts as his tongue reaches out and swipes along your bottom lip. You inhale sharply, your belly bubbling with arousal. He takes the chance as your lips part and slips his tongue inside your hot mouth. Your hands tighten on his shirt, a soft moan leaving you as you meet his passionate kiss.
You easily get swept up into the kiss, not expecting a kiss with a Lich to be so fucking hot. But the way he expertly devours your mouth with his tongue has your toes curling and your holes clenching around nothing. You try and keep up, finding yourself not wanting to break away from the kiss even as you quickly run out of air. Fuck, you feel so hot. Your body burning for more of him.
Eventually you have to force yourself to rip your mouth off his and suck in harsh mouthfuls of air. Your body tingles with a heat you’ve never know and your mind screams at you, begging to pounce on him again. You look at him, eyes blazing with lust and they meet his to see mirroring expressions of need.
“Why does my body feel so hot?” You ask breathlessly, your skin itching and crawling to touch and touch and touch him all over.
“It’s my tentacle, of course. The one in my mouth is naturally covered in an aphrodisiac in order to enhance the sensation of a Lich’s partner.” He says like you’re already suppose to know all of this. When your eyes widen at his explanation his face drops. “Did you not know?”
No, no you did not. And it looks like you’ll be doing a lot more on this third date than you had planned for…

That's a Wrap!
Kinktober 2024 Day 2: Bondage
Mummified Lich Male Yandere x Gender Neutral Reader
CW: noncon, bondage, undead yandere, necromancy, graverobbing, mild blood drinking, biting, magic, soul binding, cock warming, overstimulation, controlling yandere, general yandere behavior
Word Count: 1k
(Honestly not my best work. A bit rushed. Smut isn't super detailed. But I hope you guys like it anyway.)
You didn't really think of yourself as a grave robber. Of course not! You were an explorer, a treasure hunter, a daring person who went on adventures into dangerous dungeons! Now, did that sometimes involve liberating certain valuables from the entombed? Sure.
In fact, that's just what you were doing. You had found a map in your travels that had led you to an ancient dungeon in which a long dead king was rumored to be entombed… along with all of his many treasures…
The entrance was concealed deep within a hidden cave. The opening had collapsed, but you had the right equipment for the job.
Though you lacked any ability to naturally cast spells, you did have several one-time use earth scrolls that would allow you to use their stored magic to clear the cave and make sure it was fully stable. Of course, you also had a scroll of teleportation so you could easily leave with the loot and a scroll of healing in case of injury.
You continued until you found a magically sealed door, though it seemed age had weakened it just enough for it to be broken by your enchanted pickaxe. You proceeded through the antechamber and into the main room.
Strange. Absolutely no treasures filled the room, no artifacts mounted on the walls, no jars, urns, statues, or gold. It was just a plain, pristine room with some glyphs and runes.
But in the center, there were stairs leading to a stone sarcophagus. This was it, the resting place of King Relik. For something containing royalty, it was disappointingly plain. Maybe he was buried during a time of extreme poverty. You knew you were the first "liberator of treasures" though; you had been the one to break the sealed door.
Well… a bit macabre, but you could still sell the mummy itself if nothing else. It alone would be a mighty fine pay day. Though you held out hope that some valuables remained in the sarcophagus.
You carefully shipped away at it with your pick. At about the halfway mark, it burst open on its own.
King Relik rose from his 2300 year old prison with a yawn. He was mostly covered in strips of cloth. Upon spotting you, he willed his wrappings to extend and curl around you.
The wrappings fell from his body, revealing him to have pale grey-white skin, ling black hair, dark rings around his eyes, and a muscular body.
The gauze evidently held spells to incapacitate whoever they bound but were no longer strong enough to hold such a powerful mage-king like Relik.
You were only left uncovered from the neck up. The now naked former monarch bit your neck and drew blood, sucking only a few drinks from you.
As he drank from you, he learned your language and your most recent actions and motives.
"Ha! A grave robber. I like you!"
You had no idea that he had been sealed there for trying to conquer the world as an undead lich. They couldn't kill him no matter how hard they tried, so they used the strongest magic possible to seal him away.
And you had broken the last bits of that waning magic.
He kissed your neck where he had bitten you and cradled you carefully. He summoned up some clothes for himself. It was all he could do with his powers as weakened as they were.
Relik rummaged through your pack and found what he was looking for. The teleportation scroll linked to your nice private home.
How quaint. He never had to resort to a spell scroll before.
Once at your place, he took the bindings off, laughed as you struggled, removed your clothing, and then re-wrapped your arms and legs.
"I don't really need these enchanted bindings to restrain you, but you look rather cute all tied up like this."
All you could do was make a distressed expression. He ruffled your hair to comfort you.
"Don't worry. It wouldn't be very kingly of me to just dispose of someone who freed me… especially when they have such a delicious expression of fear."
The lich bit his finger so that a drop of blood flowed from it, he put it in your mouth so that you would know who he was and what he intended. His blood power would work both ways, should he will it.
Suddenly, his intent flooded into your mind. You now knew that from the moment he had tasted your blood, he intended to reward you for freeing him. He liked your personality and slightly questionable morals for wealth.
Your reward would be an immortal lifetime of getting dicked down by him.
That night alone, he used a spell to make sure you were lubed and ready, then tied you up, and had you in nearly every possible position. His favorite was simply bouncing you on his dick with your hands, bound behind your back.
Though the magic fabric wasn't on your mouth, its enchantment kept from making all but the softest moans and gasps. Good thing too, thought Relik. Otherwise, you may have damaged your voice.
Only when you literally passed out against his chest from the exhaustion and overstimulation from hours of sex did he finally remove the bandages. Instead, he held you close in his arms and used you to warm his cock as he fell asleep too.
Over the next few days, he would get enough of his strength back to make you magically addicted and dependent on him. This was to ensure you could never leave him.
He also used a spell to make it so you couldn't speak of him or otherwise communicate his existence to other people.
After a few months, he had enough power to tie your very soul to his for all eternity, causing you to become a lich as well. He sealed this soul pact with a magical collar he had you wear.
In every possible way, sexually, spiritually, and physically, Relik owned you. He may have been a mummy when you met him, but you were the one who was all wrapped up and bound.

The gonsts. The lil funky guys in the gloom under the moon. Please. One day. I loaf you sweaty for that thot alone
🩷
why not, let's do a little test run
MDNI - Lich x GN!Reader. Reader getting overstimulated, Skull Fucking (not in it's original context), Necrophilia maybe? Idk he's a lich and consenting, Oral Reader receiving, Fingering Reader recieving, Boning (this is linked to the fingering). Dacryphilia mention at the end.
-
"You can do it, my dear. What's one more little death?"
One more might actually lead to your actual death. But your lover was always so very thorough in his work, and you were never one to complain about helping him research. Well, not usually.
But now there are tears in your eyes, and you're starting to ache. It was bordering on painful now. "I don't know if I can."
The man, if he could still be considered that, peers up at you. Eyes a cold flame, ice blue lights dancing in wide, black sockets. His head is solid bone, a skull staring up at you. Long fingers, notched and thin, pause inside of you.
"Oh?" The skull leans forward, jaw moving. The little muscle left along the bone helped to stretch it out and let a shadowy tendril slip out; the ghost of a tongue. It hovers there, curling and flicking like smoke though it was far weightier than that. You knew from experience, and you can hear a chuckle when your legs tremble. "Would you like to make good on that assessment?"
Fuck. The tendril moves up, flicking along your sex while his fingers continue moving, searching and pressing inside you. He's determined and you can only grasp one hand onto his shoulder, gripping his robe, while the other roams over chilled bone. His true name spills from your lips, forbidden and complex but your tears are starting to slide down, warm and fat along your cheeks.
He doesn't let up. The ghost of the tongue does not mean he can't speak, even if it's busy. The lich's eyes light up with each word and let each of the following sentences hang in the air before sinking into your skin. "Such a good assistant for me. Helping me explore all kinds of death. How many ways we can achieve this one, the little death before it breaks you?" There's a pause, before he crooks his fingers, pressing them against that one spot to make you keen out. He chuckles, warm and full of delight while his gaze rakes over your body. With a single movement, he's pressing forward his skull right against you, letting the cold bone hit your inner thighs. "I think after this one it will be five? Is that correct, dearest one?"
You're panting. Nails dig into bone while your teeth dig into your lower lip. "That's c-correct, Gar-"
"I think that will be enough for today then. Just one more, my dear." He doesn't wait. The tendril is no longer flicking against your sex, but rather engulfing it. Sucking and licking, it feels wet and warm, a wonderful contrast to the coldness of his natural form. His magic was always so warm.
Tears continue to leak, you're so tired, but you can give him one more. One more and you will be done. He will treat you so well if you give him one more. You force yourself to relax, to let his ministrations guide you through, but you're cumming with a sob and grind of your hips against his head.
He's nothing but praise, sliding his fingers out once your orgasm ends. "So wonderful to see. Such a good test subject." The tendrils from his mouth descend back in, but not before letting it roll over your thighs like a final caress or a soft kiss. He stays between your legs, gently rubbing over them with too-thin and rough fingers. Bones pet your flesh, and you don't mind it.
Finally, he lifts himself up, to stand and get you a glass of water that he had kept nearby. He dips the cup himself, and you know there is no option here but to drink. Heavy mouthfuls are quick to come as you realize your thirst. When he pulls away, turning to set it down, your fingers run along his robes. "Thank you."
The lich chuckles, thin arms wrapping around your body, until he can settle behind you. Having you lay over him, the robe helping to smooth out all the hard lines of his body. "I should be thanking you, my dear. I've learned so much." He shifts beneath you slightly. "Was it too much?"
You consider the fact that you just had the equivalent of a talking skeleton eat you out and finger you open until you wept. Surprisingly, no. "It wasn't that bad. Just got too..."
"Overstimulated?" You nod and he hums. "Perhaps next time, we can have some longer breaks in between. That may help with preventing some tears."
You gaze at him, meeting the blue flames of his eyes head-on. "But you like the tears."
His hand dips, feeling along your waist and then your stomach. He can't grin anymore, but you could sense it in the next few words. "Perhaps I should keep going then?" Boney fingers dip lower, following the line of your hip, hovering over your sex once again. "If you have no objections, of course, my dear."
You pause, thinking. "One minute break? And then you can get another one."
His teeth press on the crown of your head, the whisper of a kiss he couldn't give. "Of course, my dear."
You smile, pressing a kiss to the side of his jaw. "Thanks, Garbear."
Gary sighs, no air pressing through the slightly parted teeth. "You're going down to thirty seconds now, brat."
"You shouldn't have let a human pick your casual name."
"Twenty."
You had an odd feeling it would be a long, but enjoyable night.

Thank you to @golden-rats for the name of the Lich

Hello, hello! Welcome to my main blog, where the DCA fascination consumes! My alt blog is @sharetheartman, go check it out if you wanna see the amazing art this community has to offer!
My Ko-fi (if you're able to help a struggling writer, very much appreciated. Can request written commissions if you want): BlueMoon1331
Below is a list of all my current fics on A03 and planned AUs! Give them a read if you love fantasy and the DCA! (Updated to divide between the SFW and NSFW stories)
<<<<<First up, the SFW section!>>>>>>
Finished Works:
One Lost Star- You are a bit of a hermit, living solo off the land since the death of your grandfather. Until you draw certain godly attention, that is.
Scarlet Masquerade- The sole heir to your kingdom, you find yourself caught in the tangled web of the automaton emperor's plans. However, things are about to go from bad to worse when you catch the interest of the deadly automaton assassin sent to end you.
WIPs:
Cosmic Journeys- Trapped in the depths of depression, you seek an unfortunate out. The nearby land owner won't let that happen, though. Thus begins a journey of self-worth and finding hope in a world of madness and compassion, monsters, saints, and everything in between.
Come and Go- A Megamind-inspired AU with Sun as Metroman, Moon as Megamind, and Eclipse as Titan, while you are a delivery driver caught in the middle.
Unusual- An oceanographer, there is no place you'd rather be than scouring the depths of the seven seas, studying its plant life and creatures, in particular the infamous mers, beings most of your co-workers are quite wary of. They don't seem to mind you too much, though, a fact you try not to put stock in until an encounter on the beach near your house flips your entire world upside down. Strings of fate and a battle to rule the oceans with you as the key? Ridiculous. Right?
Of Metal Parts and Roadside Shenanigans- You are a trucker traveling home before unwittingly tripping headfirst into a giant mystery. (More of @deceptiveshadow's Blood Moon cause I love him and cannot help myself.)
One-shots:
Party Crashing 101- A piece inspired by the mafia episode from Helluva Boss. Badass, protective reader ftw XD
Blooming In Adversity- You and the princesses were great friends in your youth, until you had to move away. Years later, you return, your friendship blooming anew. However, dark plots turn in the background, and it may be up to just you to save them.
Phantom Tide- You are a siren, crushed under betrayal. Sun and Moon are brothers recovering from the throes of grief. Perhaps you may be just what each other need.
Connotations- Your duties as a druid are fairly life-consuming, but you have happily devoted yourself to them. Keeping the peace is not the easiest, but you do it all the same. Unfortunately, the arrival of contesting priests threaten your efforts, setting you on a collision course to meet three of the forest's most powerful caretakers.
Diamonds and Iron- Being a rather big-time mafia boss, of course Eclipse needs places to stash away his income. As an outdoor enthusiast, you love visiting the local motorsports arena when you can afford it. Oh, who's that standing in the middle of the track, where you can't see?
Birds of a Feather- You are stuck as the basically powerless manager to the newly opened pizzaplex. With problems everywhere you look, you're not sure which one to focus on or handle first. Perhaps you could find a kindred soul in a certain mechanic, however. (Based in the EAPS universe)
<<<<<<<<<NSFW area ahoy!>>>>>>>>>>
Finished Works:
Never Play Cat and Mouse With Vampires- Living alone is a necessity, your skills in hunting, magic, and evasion giving you all you need for contentment, or so you tell yourself. In your newest home you, unfortunately, find that your capabilities only draw the infatuation of three local creatures that are intent to finally capture you and make you theirs. Annoyingly, they may just get that chance.
Dancing In Orbit- The lunar vampire is the last of his kind, a deadly plague on the Earth that refuses to yield despite the uncountable years that have passed since the last of his kin and kind died off. You, running from your intertwined past, seek to finally put an end to that, with some help from friends old and new.
Familiar Constellations- The vampires get a bit quirky about you, especially when you egg them on. Mature. Very, very mature. Good gods they are rough, but you love it. After all, you can get a bit rough with them, too.
Gravity- Featuring another of @deceptiveshadow's lovely OCs, Nova. Normally quite the quiet and cat-like companion, you join him for a round of games in which his behavior becomes increasingly odd. That's nothing compared to when you strangely wake in the tower the next day, having no recollection of how you got there, and what comes after.
WIPs:
Embers and Ash- Ghost hunting is your profession, and you are damn good at it. Which is why you don't think twice when you're hired to cleanse an abandoned mansion of its otherworldly resident. Too bad this job is not the cake walk you thought it would be.
Burning Stars- You run your farm alone on a world teeming with aliens and humans, content with your animal family and helpful community, even if you keep the latter at arm's lengths. Until your peace is interrupted by a certain intergalactic bounty hunter, anyway.
Rosewood's Serenade- The eldest child of your kingdom, you have trained since birth to be all your home needs and more, intent to take the throne when the time comes, marriage or no. However, your parents harbor a secret, a deal struck when disaster threatened to destroy all they hold dear, and you soon find yourself meeting a most intriguing being...
Demonic- The saying of Hell is empty for all the demons are here has never been more apt. Caught smack dab in the middle of the infamous Hell-Day event, you come out with an unexpected passenger woven into your soul. Now, you secretly fight to preserve the fragile balance between mortals and the demons trapped on Earth, all while contending with the fact your new neighbors are the very ones responsible for sealing the gates, the infamous Celestial Graces. They also happen to be the mortal enemies of the one currently living in you. Fun times all around, especially with devil himself on your heels, seeking to reclaim what he lost.
Along the Akesh- Blessed with visions since your youth, you were taken and raised by the temple, becoming one of the highest-ranked priests, second to only the grand heijut himself. With an awe-inspiring festival and ritual that happens only once every five centuries under way, you are eager to meet the moon god, one of the many you have had the pleasure of conversing with throughout your prayers and oracles, in person. Things take an unexpected turn, however, when the temple must pay recompense for an accidental screw up with a gift left by an old friend. You are about to learn just how intrigued you and the moon god truly are with each other.
One-shots:
Bleeding Feathers- You weren't supposed to go into the exclusionary zone, but that's never been a problem for you before. This time, however, you might just get more than you bargained for. Fan piece for @deceptiveshadow's harpy au! (Not TSAMS)
Color Theory- Moving back to your late grandma's cabin, you pray for things to finally settle down. Unfortunately, her myriad of secrets seek to come back and haunt you, but hey, it might not be all bad this time. You could use the comfort of an old friend. Another fic inspired by @deceptiveshadow! Their god Blood Moon this time. (Not TSAMS)
<<<<<<<Lastly, miscellaneous potential AUs!>>>>>>>
Lich King AU- With the three realms in shambles, cut off from each other, it is up to the most powerful warriors of Earth to fend off the lich king and his Elite army, including his own brothers. You, whom offers them a secret safe haven and relaxation when they need it, cannot deny your love for Sun and Moon, nor they you, but with Eclipse hounding for any weakness he can use against his kin, is the danger really worth it? You find the answer may be coming sooner than you would like when the two go missing after a fight.
Spirited Away AU- You have moved to a more remote region in hopes of forgetting a troubled family life. Content to spend your time among the lush jungles of the land, you inadvertently stumble upon an obviously long-forgotten temple. Curiosity eats at you, and you cannot help get closer, initially unaware of the myriad of eyes watching you, until you spot...an icy blue leopard? It's a good thing you helped those snakes and that spider on your way here.
Harem AU- You saved them from certain death, and now the clan of vampire brothers serve you. For years uncountable, you have pulled the strings, quite happy to cause chaos around the world when it becomes too dull for your liking, going from hero to hero. On blood soaked ground, you are content with your helpful vampires, though can things really stay the same forever?
Skyrim AU- Every place has its demons, no matter how reclusive or small. You consider yourself one of them. Seeking an escape, you move to Solstheim hoping for a fresh start. How unfortunate for you that you would arrive during the island's darkest hour. Cults, strange creatures, a frost giant king, and the arrival of two Dragonborns drag you right back into the spotlight, dredging up your past as you all race against time and the greedy daedra of knowledge to stop each other's destruction.
Then There Was One- You wake up to an empty world. You don't comprehend how or why it happened, just that everyone seems to have vanished in the blink of an eye. Cars sit vacant in traffic, meals left uneaten, internet full of messages that abruptly stopped hours ago. You try to live on your lonesome, keeping yourself distracted, and ignoring the gnawing loneliness. Except, well, you might not be as alone as you think, a fact you find out far too late when your page gets flooded with AI messages and bots are suddenly knocking at your day. Just what the hell kind of universal joke was this robot apocalypse you were stuck in? Or...do you have this all wrong? Your new companions may yet help you figure it out.

ok if acceptable I'm dropping one more before closing time
"I remember you" with a reader being the reincarnation of someone the Horned King once loved
*Clutches chest* ROOOSSEEE-
This hurts me. In like, the best way. Here we go, modern reincarnation because I low-key would like to get lost in the Welsh Mountains forever (I have deadlines).
Also please forgive the Google translated Welsh at the end I did not have the time to look up proper medieval Welsh and asking someone real to translate would have been good to think of before I started operating on 5% brain. If anyone following me is a native Welsh speaker pls DM me or leave a comment and I'll correct Google's attempt.
The Horned King x Reincarnated!Reader : 'I Remember You'
You have no fucking clue why you're here.
'Here' being the Ass-End of Nowhere, Wales. No phone reception, no services, no people and no tourists. Except, uh, yourself. Obviously.
You got up, drove out, picked a random direction between two hills and. Started walking. You don't even know why.
You just know that there's something further into the mountains that your soul is ITCHING to get to. You've always felt it, but recently ignoring it has started to feel like being pulled through barbed wire.
The ground is rough and uneven, tussocks and hidden rocks threaten to turn your ankles every other step. The trees that twist their way along the crevices of the high moorland are all but draped in moss and thorns. The mountains arching up behind them are unwelcoming, cold and cragged.
It's...eerily quiet. No birds, no people...even the sheep seemed to stop at some hidden border a few miles back. Just the low moan of the wind accompanies you.
As you walk, you find yourself stealing glances at the sky. You tell yourself it's for birds - Kites and eagles maybe - but you have to keep a strange disappointment down that it's nothing larger. What are you expecting for fucks sake? Dragons??
You're so busy scanning the skies that you topple arse over tea kettle down the next scree slope like a graceful spaghetti mannequin with a screaming feature.
You manage to scrabble and hiss to a stop, skin on your arms and legs scraped raw. And upon looking up suck in a breath that has nothing to do with your sliced up hands.
It's as though a giant scooped the earth away and set it on fire for good measure. Bare reddish black rock contends with a bitter snarl of dead grasses and lonely tree corpses. Beyond lies a dessicated crevass that looks like a lake drained away overnight.
Beyond that, is a castle.
You blink and tear the vision that seared across your eyes - of a fully fleshed gothic fortress - away. What lies before you is a ruin. The bones of the structure, at best.
The barbed wire in your soul is all but yanking you toward the ancient structure. You don't notice that the path you tread towards it is one you can find without looking, despite the terrain.
The bridge, rotted and rusted as it is, is mostly secure. You keep your weight to the bolted metal crisscrossing the wood as you make your way across, slow and steady and feeling as though phantom archers have their sights on you from atop the wall.
As you pass under the archway to the courtyard, you shiver violently. The feeling of passing under so familiar that it almost clawed it's way out from your skin.
The very air seems to hold it's breath as you make your way deeper into the crumbling structure. Water drips from the stonework, the doors all long since rotted from their hinges. Tools lie forgotten on the cobbles. If it wasn't so creepy it would be an archaeologists dream.
Why does no-one around seem to know this is here? Why is this place so undisturbed?
You stumble into what must have been the Great Hall.
Cold sunlight shafts through holes in the ceiling, the corners in absolute darkness. Skeletons lie in piles across the floor, roughly around where large tables should have been, weapons scattered akimbo as though they didn't even get a chance to use them before they fell.
Your eyes are dragged to the dias. There's a body on the throne.
It's slouched, slumped, as if whoever this was had thrown themselves back on the seat and collapsed in exhaustion. The mothbitten red robe and fur stole is strung with spiderwebs connecting them him to the throne, but this isn't what yanks on the barbed wire in your soul.
The pair of great, regal thorn like horns protuding from the figures hood are angled towards you.
Your feet carry you forward.
The figures face is obscured but you know it, the fingers curled loosely still with flesh, after all this time, no weapons around the dias but no evidence of wounds on the body as if he would need them, as if they could ever lay a finger on their King-
Your hand trembles, reaching out to touch the nearest horn irrestisably, not even daring to breathe.
The corpse lurches.
An arctic vice closes on your wrist, bones grinding as he yanks you to your knees on the stone. His fist is impossible to pry loose even as you scrabble at it, nails ripping at leathery hide- heart pounding-
His second hand closes on your neck and you freeze.
Twin red lights blaze from under the hood. Pupils in a black socket that focus hazily on your face, blinking as if rising from a dream that still has its hooks in him. The hand on your neck squeezes and you gasp, eyes bulging, wrist forgotten as you plead with your hands against the unstoppable force around your neck.
Brows twitch as he watches you struggle. Marginally, the fingers loosen and you suck in air, sounding like a broken bellows compared to the cathedral-esque empty quality of the air passing through his chest.
Gently, reverently, knarled fingers parse hair from your forehead. You didn't even realise he'd released your wrist. Your throat remains in his grip.
You meet his gaze as the last of the fog clears from his sockets. His voice, rusted and broken from disuse, still rumbles from his throat like a shuddering landslide.
"Rwy'n eich cofio, fy annwyl."
"I remember you, my dear."

Yandere Head Canons:
Love After Death
Yandere Skeleton x Fem Reader
Tumblr media
I’m obsessed with Kate Bush’s song ‘Army Dreamers.’ So I decided to write a story about a soldier who died during a war, but he came back to life just to fulfill his promise of coming home to his lover…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was a Great War many years ago between monsters and humans. A war that took countless innocent lives all due to the human’s greed. A war that took the life of your lover, Zered. Your childhood sweetheart.
Zered was a young sorcerer from the magic tower. A prodigy and pioneer of magic with a heart of gold. He was the man you had planned to spend the rest of your life with. You wanted to run your fingers through those blonde curls until the two of you were balding and wrinkly. To look into those sea foam eyes until you couldn’t. To press soft kisses against his full lips until your lungs burned. You loved that man more than anything in this world… but the war took him from you.
Zered may have died a hero of the empire, but you couldn’t help the bitterness that seeped its fingers into your heart. Your beloved was no nothing more of a war story. A great sorcerer who was able to take down the dragon enemies to give time for reinforcements to arrive. A war hero. And they couldn’t even bring a single remain of him back to you…
You sighed as you sipped on some homemade ale. Your eyes glanced at the sun’s rays that danced across the hay fields in sorrow. This was the cottage the two of you were going to live in for the rest of your days. The one you’d start a family in that was now cold and empty. It didn’t matter that the sun hit it perfectly each time, Zered wasn’t here.
You rock back and forth in the rocking chair. The birds weren’t singing their melodic tunes like they normally did. Which was odd. Why weren’t the birds singing- you almost screamed when you see a dark figure slink through the meadow towards your cabin. What on earth was an undead doing here?!
You quickly sprang up from your chair and fell over since you were a bit tipsy. Crap. Crap. Crap! You needed to head inside before that creature got to you.
You let out a shrill shriek of terror when the skeleton stood in your porch. Its red eyes stared into your very soul as it tilted its head to the side. Oh god… this was it. This was the end. You were going to be ripped apart by this hideous creature-
You went still when the creature threw itself into your arms as it released weeping noises. The skeleton whined and shook as its arms wrapped around your body in a tight hug.
“H-home. I… home.” The skeleton’s voice was a spin chilling rasp. A small tuft of blonde on its head showed that it was once human.
What did it mean by being home- wait. This cousin possibly be?
“Zered?” You gasped when the skeleton pressed its teeth onto your cheek like it wanted for press a kiss against your cheeks. “Zered, what happened?”
“Home… home.” Zered was barely to rasp out legible words. The skeleton cupped your face in its palms. “Love you… I home.”

April's Patreon exclusive story is live!
Gender fluid lich x female reader (nsfw)
Content: cis female reader (though that really comes in right at the end with the nsfw and anatomy to be honest. I'm so used to writing gn readers by this point!). Reader is one of the quiet and reserved types, who prefers to have a meaningful connection with someone before taking things further than friendship, and sometimes it makes her feel a little bit lonely. Her bestie is a big, girlie orc lass with confidence to spare, and there's a goblin and a gargoyle in there too.
Wordcount: 6735
Extract:
...
Cassia peered over the shoulders of the remaining three people — the two excitable gnolls included — in front of you and began rattling off the labels of the ice cream in the glass-fronted freezer, but you had eyes only for the lich.
The way their delicate finger bones moved, connected to each other by magic instead of tendons and muscles; the way they held the ice cream scoop and moved it with such precision to create wonderful, glassy balls of ice cream to set delicately atop the cone in teetering arrangements; the way they squeezed syrup from the bottles and let it zig-zag across their ice cream masterpieces without once spilling a drop… They were enchanting.
The light of their magic — the magic that kept them in their state of permanent un-death — glowed a minty green in the depths of their eye-sockets, and it added to the vivacious aura that emanated from them. They talked constantly while they worked, chatting with customers and hardly breaking off to quip a quick retort at the goblin, who matched them for speed in both ice cream preparation and banter, until you were almost dizzy with it all. Combined with the glorious scent in the air, you were almost overwhelmed.
When it was your turn, they shifted their magical gaze to your face and you watched a slight change come over them.
Before you and Cassia had reached the head of the queue, they’d seemed tense and almost frantic, their shoulders held high and their movements a blur, but when they spotted you, they seemed to stall for a moment. The light grew minutely brighter in their skull, illuminating the curve of their eye sockets and the dainty line of their nasal cavity, and although they had no mouth with which to articulate a smile, you got the impression of a beaming, blinding smile all the same.
“Well there,” they said in that intriguing, slightly husky alto. They had the faintest trace of an accent, though you couldn’t place it. “What can we get for you, lovely?”
The final word, so casually but so sincerely added, threw you off balance, so you looked up at Cassia and begged her with silent, wide eyes to go first. She did, and you took a second to compose yourself. Social interactions weren’t really your thing. That was why you worked at a garden centre. The most you had to do there was point someone in the direction of the petunias, or advise someone on organic slug repellents. You didn’t want to be thinking about organic slug repellent at that moment though, and dragged your brain back into the present.
With your own order awkwardly given, the lich nodded and waggled the freshly-cleaned scoop at you. “Fabulous choice, I must say.”
And because you had the social range of a butter knife, you blurted, “Bet you say that to all your customers.”
They laughed. “Only the cute ones. You want a free flake with that?”
You eyed the jar of flaky, crumbly chocolate bars and nodded. “Thanks.”
The light in one of their eyes went out briefly in what you could only assume was a wink, and as they handed you the teetering cone of ice cream a second later, they also slid a little card across the counter with the delicate fingertip of their other hand. “Come back for a freebie,” they whispered, leaning close.

The Necromancer and their Minion
Tumblr media
Inspired by this prompt Second POV Gender-neutral Necromancer Reader Fluff and Fantasy Wordcount: 547
When the leader of the Hero party killed you, you were certain you were gone forever, to walk in this eternal darkness until you reached the afterlife. You were certain you were going to the Underworld, for you were one of the people who went against the laws of nature and raised the dead. It was no surprise, yet you will miss your minions. You wonder how they will function without you, their master?
Perhaps they’ll live out their lives or possibly find a new master.
So regaining sensation to your beings was the last thing you expected. Nor was the sudden air that filled your lungs that had you coughing and heaving. Nor was the sudden sense of sight as light flooded your eyes and blinded you for just a moment. You were in your body. You were breathing. You were alive…
You were alive.
Panicked confusion had you choking at the revelation before you blink your eyes to adjust to the light. That’s when you notice the things before you, the creature that resurrected you from the void. An Elder Lich, you realized when you caught sight of its bony limbs and face, a white robe that’s torn at the ends of the seams. Pearls adorned around its neck and wrists, buzzing with magic and power. In one of its skeletal claws was a book, jewels embedded with elegant swirls carved and engraved on the cover, the pages were worn yellow yet the leather was still put together. But what caught your attention was, amongst the hauntingly majestic outfit of the Lich, was a nametag that stood out like a sore thumb. Old and torn, yet still stuck on, and on it was the faded ink writing.
Bob.
…This was BOB!?
You looked at the Elder Lich in immense shock and surprise. “Bob!?”
A nasal rasp from the Lich confirmed your suspicions. You scratched your head as you looked around, noticing the crumbling stone pillars and ceiling, the torched banners, and behind your minion was an army of the dead and the night. Lycanthropes, goblins, undead warriors, and even a few wyverns flying above. The army crowded the hall. And around the altar that you were resurrected on were blood-written runes scrawled on the floor, a ritual of resurrection. But to do that, you would need a human sacrifice…
A glint of steel caught your eye behind you and you turned to meet the eyes of the lifeless head of the Hero and his party. Brown hair is dirty and matted with blood, hollow green eyes stare at you, and deathly pale skin.
Your minion killed the Hero and his party to resurrect you…as revenge…
An overwhelming sensation of warmth as you turn back to your minion. “Bob, you did this for me?”
Bob nodded.
You couldn’t help the chuckle as you attempted to stand up, the elder lich assisting you. The army in front of you watched curiously as the leader helped you onto your feet. You couldn’t believe how loyal your minion is; getting stronger to defeat the Hero and to bring you back to life. You almost felt like crying. After releasing a shaky breath, you looked at Bob with a smile. “It’s good to be back.”

i dont have a specific Scene in mind but idea for requests: something between a transmasc lich & nonbinary vampire? (double the monsters) (also they are romantic)

Male Lich/Nonbinary Vampire SFW Wordcount: 431 Commissions | Ko-fi | Masterlist
Tumblr media
In the quiet recesses of Eadric's arcane tower, he and Sage were immersed in their shared study. Eadric sat across from Sage, a vampire whose curiosity was as endless as their life. Around them, aged scrolls and heavy tomes lay scattered, while the air was filled with a blend of old parchment and the underlying hum of magic.
Eadric watched as Sage leafed through one of the ancient texts, their dark eyes shining with interest in the dim candlelight. "This symbol," Sage began, pointing to an elaborate etching, "corresponds to a certain type of vampiric aura that can be used to fortify spells."
"Interesting," Eadric murmured, leaning closer to inspect the symbol. His spectral fingers ghosted over the intricate markings, drinking in the knowledge.
In return, he began explaining the fundamentals of their shared immortality. With his magic, he created hovering diagrams in the air, sketching the cycle of life and death. Sage followed his illustrations with keen interest.
"Despite having entirely different origins, of course," Eadric said, a softness creeping into his voice, "we share this phenomenon of endless existence."
During the gentle exchange, their hands accidentally met over the scroll they were studying. Their gazes snapped up, locking onto each other. An understanding passed between them, unspoken but powerful.
"Eadric," Sage said, breaking the silence, "we've studied many a night, but I've never felt...this. Do you feel it too?"
Eadric hesitated, a wave of warmth washing over him. He had never been one for many words, but he realised that this was a moment that needed them. "Yes, Sage," he said. "I do."
Sage's eyes sparkled in the candlelight, their smile revealing pointed teeth that gleamed silver. Gently, they squeezed Eadric's spectral hand. The touch sent a pleasant shiver up Eadric's spine, a feeling he had not experienced in ages.
Then, leaning in, Sage placed a tender kiss on Eadric's bony cheek. It was a soft, fleeting gesture, but it held a depth that left Eadric momentarily stunned.
Sage pulled back, their gaze lingering on Eadric for a heartbeat longer before they released his hand and turned to fetch another scroll. Eadric watched them, his eyes tracing the familiar patterns of their movement. They continued their study, but something had fundamentally shifted.
The night drew on, the soft glow of the candlelight flickering against the worn stone walls of the tower, casting a warm light over the two figures engrossed in their study. It was in their shared silence, in the touch of a hand, that Eadric felt something he never had before.
Love.

Ignatius Murkia Knellmorne (Dark Spirit x Anonymous Reader) Sfw
(Oh man, this is another beanie that has been in my head for years, if you enjoy the silly kinds of bad guys that run around shouting “fool!” acting like really passionate theater kids, and trying a little too hard to be evil while bumbling in the process, this one's for you! Ignatius is trying his best to have his wicked heart in the right place! :3c )
It’s another day, in Knellmorne castle, you wake up to an explosion that rocks the bed you were sleeping in. The cold stone walls rumbling as dust trickles down onto the floor and your face. You cough and cover your head with your blanket as you roll over to protect yourself from any more debris. You blink your bleary eyes as you scrub the dust away with a corner of your sleeve. Then, sleepily throwing back the blankets you stand up to stretch. Muscles tensing as you roll back your shoulders and arch your back. Before you can finish your yawn you tip sideways as another shudder runs through the castle. You stumble to stay upright reaching to grab a hold of the thick iron chains that hang from the walls.
Another day, another adventure.
Your bedroom was made up of an old repurposed dungeon. One that had been hastily redecorated for your stay. Even one of the older skeletal residents had been accidentally left behind from the move to make the space slightly more homey. Your roommate laid forlornly on the floor, their jaw hanging slack in a scream, or perhaps a yawn? You weren’t entirely sure. You pull yourself upright, and carefully step over the sprawling form. Making your way over to the thick dark bars that made the walls of your new home. As a prisoner of the castle, you had learned that the quickest way to get your freedom was to simply. . . ask the guards not to lock the door. Despite being dark revenant creatures, with shadowy purple bones and grinning ghoulish skulls, you were surprised by the level of hospitality they had shown you in the beginning of your stay.
"His lord has given you more blankets, prison scum, these walls get cold at night,"
"His lord was curious if you enjoyed your dinner,"
"On a scale of 1 to 10, how has your stay been at the dungeon? Is there anything we can do to make it more comfortable?"
You stride through the open wrought iron cell, making your way across the room. The walls lined with rows and rows of wickedly sharp and strange torture devices that gleamed menacingly in the wisps of a strange purple and blue fire light. You reach the huge door that blocks the dungeon from the other part of the castle. Careful to avoid setting your hand on any of the nasty black spikes that were set into the door. You press your weight against the door and it creaks open with a ghastly moan. You find yourself facing a dark hallway illuminated with more sputtering purple torches hanging on the wall with sharp wrought iron fixings. From what you gather, this spectral firelight runs through the entirity of the castle grounds. You peek your head out into the hallway. Looking left then right. Closing the door carefully behind you and tiptoeing stealthily down the hallway.
You have actually escaped the dungeon many times. Typically being caught by the guards you make up the most soppiest story that you could think of on the spot. You felt that you were no great wordsmith by any means. However, your great tales of woe held surprising results. You would watch the dark skeletons dab at their hollow eye sockets, snuffling and blowing into handkerchiefs.
Then you would be scooted out along secret passageways, your captors promised that they wouldn't tell their great and terrible master. As long as you came back, you were free to go. The first time you had done so, it was exhilarating, how foolish they were! You had thought, running over the dark drawbridge and into the forest. More than eager to take advantage of the gullibleness of your keepers. Yet, as your footfalls slowed and you walked the rest of the way towards town, something had tugged at your back. Perhaps your own conscience was making you feel guilty at tricking the guards, who had appeared so distraught by the story you wove.
You had gone into town to buy supplies, and had bought a map to begin your journey home. Yet, against your better judgment you had come back to the castle. Reassuring the guards that your family was well. You had accomplished what you had set out to do, and that it was alright for you to return. If they had let you out, chances are that they would do it again. At least that was what you had initially hoped. Perhaps the next time you make a daring escape, you would be able to come back with a story to tell the local starry eyed children.
One escape became two, then three, then four. Each time the crowd of skeletons waving goodbye to you as you walked away grew and grew. Honestly, it began to make you feel worse about planning your breakouts. You were determined to leave without being caught at the very least. Perhaps then you could leave with a clean conscience.
Now, as you are a seasoned veteran and resident escape artist, you notice the lack of guards at their typical posts. This area is normally crawling with skeletons. You had even been invited to sit down and join their card games on the nights that you couldn’t sleep. Where could they be? Another loud crash makes the stones shudder under your feet. You entertained the thought that perhaps they were dealing with some kind of battle elsewhere. Though the thought made your gut twist uncomfortably. Could skeletons like that get injured?
It wasn't right to hold people hostage no, but from what you had seen of your so called captors, they were really quite harmless. They tried to put on a facade of being these gruesome creatures, but truly their actions gave them away. They didn't have the metaphorical heart to keep you trapped in the dungeon, they even cooked for you. Although. . . you have had to go into the kitchen and make food for yourself. No taste buds meant no way to tell if ingredients were spoiled or not, or even if it was made right at all. You had smiled around too many terrible dishes before you gently prompted the depressed cook to let you make your own meals.
You didn't wish to see them get hurt. Goodness it wasn't above your imagination to think that someone could lie their way in just as you lied your way out. Someone could enter the castle ground just as easily under false pretenses and then begin hacking away at those poor undead creatures. You stop and sigh, rubbing the bridge of your nose. Wrestling with what to do. It was the worst you had seen their security.
"Perhaps I am an even bigger fool than the skeletons," You grumble sulkily, turning towards the source of the noise and confusion.
You would go and see what was causing all this noise. Perhaps there was something you could do. You didn’t have access to a weapon, that was the one thing the residents of castle Knellmourne did seem to be careful with. In your previous escapades through the castle, you had never stumbled upon a discarded weapon that you could borrow for self defense. What were you going to be able to accomplish if you did find out some of them were in trouble? You supposed you would have to cross that bridge when you got there. Perhaps you could go alert the others once you stumbled into more of them. You took one of the large life-sized portraits off the wall to reveal one of the many secret passageways the skeletons had shown you. Following the cacophonous sounds you follow a path through the tunnels of dull flickering torchlight to a place you had never been before.
You peer around a tapestry, into a grandiose circular room with ornate torches of even darker purple fire. More tapestries were hung from the dark stone walls depicting a manergierie of ghoulish creatures and dark spirits. At the far end of the room, embellished by a dark purple rug that trailed across the floor sat a huge throne made of rich blackened wood and carved with many ornate depictions of screaming human skulls. This had to be the throne room of the skeleton's master. They talked about him constantly, Ignatius Murkia Knellmourne. You had never seen the lord of Castle Knellmorne, and honestly you didn’t want to test your luck by running into him now. Thankfully the room was empty, although it made the interior feel even more ominous. As if he could appear at any moment, and the longer you lingered, the greater the risk you took with his remergance. You concluded that this wasn’t where the source of the noise was coming from, and must have taken a wrong turn.
Just as you were about to slip back behind the tapestry, the great dark door across the room burst open. A human figure dressed in blue and silver dove out of the way of a swirling darkness. Their hand touching the ground as they skid to evade the reach of dark shadowy hands. Bright purple eyes flicker to life within the abyss, another figure manifested from the swirling well of darkness. A knight clad in dark armor, some places so black, it looked as if it was forged from the place they had manifested from. Two long twisted black and purple horns curled from the helm they wore. A monstrous sized morning star gripped in their hands.
Your eyes dart back and forth from the dark knight to a heroic looking figure with their sword drawn. The human eyes land on you, their expression going from shocked to outraged.
"Y-You liar! You do have a prisoner!" The human turns back to the dark knight using their sword to gesture at you, and you stiffen.
A deep voice slithers from the depths of the armor. An evil chuckle as violet eyes smoke ominously. "Fool!" The armored being laughs, "Of course I have prisoners! Not that you'll be able to save any of them." He jeers. "It is in your best interest to stop this foolish game, lay down your sword, and perhaps I shall be merciful."
"Well, I hate to bring this up, but your ‘prisoner’ is escaping."
"Uh?" The glowing eyes shift to tiny circles as an awkward silence passes through the room. The figure gestures towards you again, and Knellmourne whips their head around towards you. You give a small squeak as the looming knight appraises you with wide eyes.
"You!" His booming voice intones, "How did you get here!?" Having no plans to answer, you shimmy back through the secret passageway, hearing a snarl behind you.
"You need to keep better track of your hostages, Ignatius!" Laughs the hero's voice, the vocal banter fading into the sound of yet another scuffle. You rush back the way you came, pausing to catch your breath only when you felt you had gotten far enough away.
“Forget the skeletons— they’ll be fine.” You sputter. “If I stay any longer I’ll be mashed potatoes!”
You were still in the winding secret tunnels, and while you had been focused on getting away from the two figures you hadn’t paid attention to where you had gone. While you know the areas that lead to the outside or the staff’s dusty kitchen, this was unknown territory to you. You typically had other thoughts in your mind than wanting to wander around and explore. Also choosing to avoid certain parts of the castle that you deemed too dangerous. Looking down the hallway you tried to remember the layout of the passageways you previously traversed, scratching your head. You had been so careful to remember what turns you took earlier, and you push yourself to try and recall them.
“That way— I. . . think?” You murmur uneasily, letting your hand rest against the wall for support as you begin to tentatively move forward again. Your eyes scan the dimly lit area, looking for any telltale landmarks to help you navigate.
You jolt as your foot steps in something that gives under your weight. Nose wrinkling, and lips spreading into a thin line, you pray you haven’t stepped on any poor critter that was scuttling around the tunnels. Hurrying to lift your foot, you find a mound of strange gelatinous looking black sludge. Your eyebrows lifting, as your eyes slowly move across the floor. There was more of it, and it was ambling towards each other, something dark and shadowy was forming along the floor. Its presence was seeping up from the cracks in the cobble stones. Creeping forward as it became denser and darker.
"Wh-what the–"
You stumble back, as dozens of shadowy skeleton hands shoot from the newly formed swirling darkness. The formless writhing shape began dragging itself towards you along the floor, gaining momentum. You yelp, not needing more encouragement to turn on your heels and sprint through the corridors.
The great shadowy mass began scuttling along after you, its skeletal hands propelling the beast along the walls and ceiling like some massive spidering creature. Another of those strange beings were manifesting themselves to form up in the corner of your eye. The corridors you had walked so freely and with ease had turned into an utter nightmare in a matter of moments. You dove away from one, only to almost throw yourself into another. Your ankle twinged as pain shot down your foot. Ignoring the pain you managed to direct yourself between them. The shadowy beings collide with one another, little fragments of bones falling from the beasts as their forms wobble and disappear.
A moment of breath, before something grips your ankle and you yelp. Shadowy hands rippling and blooming up from the floor as you jerk your leg free. Skittering around the grasping appendages you duck into yet another thin corridor. A crack of light beyond the tunnel now filled with flailing reaching hands. You burst out into the main castle, ramming into one of the full length portraits and falling to the ground. Your hands take the brunt of your fall and sting as they land on the rough stone floor. Scrabbling to stand you watch as the flailing limbs dissipate and seep back into the floor. Chest heaving in gasping breathed as a stitch burns into your side, you let out a half gasp, half incredulous laugh.
How many times had you been bumbling around in those dark corridors without seeing a hide or hair of those creatures? How lucky had you been before? Practically coming and going however you pleased. Nervous glances were cast back at the broken portrait on the floor and the dark chasm in the wall that lay beyond. Unsteadily rising to your feet, wanting to gain as much distance as you could from where you had last been.
Unfortunately, you hadn’t been able to evade the strange beings for long. You had paused for just a second to gain your bearings when hands burst out of the wall beside you. Your turn is just a fraction too slow as skeletal hands grip you. You try to fight them off, thrashing in their grip. Trying to dig your heels into the cracks of the stone floor. You are dragged through a wall that oozes with darkness. One moment you were in the castle hall, next you were pulled into a black void, a chill of wind whistled past your ears causing your skin to tingle with gooseflesh. You resurface in the throne room. Coughing and sputtering, you attempt to tug free of the dark hands that grip your arms.
Heavy slow footfalls cross the room, a figure looms over you.
“Ah, well, well. Here we are again. Long time no see.” Knellmorne spreads their hands in a feigned greeting. The shadowy skeletal hands that were holding you in place withering away.
"Where. . . where did that knight go?" You ask nervously, seeing no trace of the other figure in the room.
"Oh," Knellmourne purrs with venom dripping in their voice, "They are a little. . . shall we say, preoccupied at the moment. We can't have you wandering unsupervised, now can we?" Their smokey cloak of darkness flows in dark pooling waves as he shifts his stance. You turn your head away, expecting the worst.
"Guards!" He bellows, his voice ringing like a toll of death into the rafters above. "SEIZE THEM,"
Silence.
You tense and look around, eyes flitting towards the looming stone doorways that lead into the throneroom. No guards came, nor did the strange shadowy creatures you ran into previously. Knellmourne stays still, their clawed fingers still pointing accusatory at you.
"I said–" The dark spirit begins again, "Guards!"
Nothing.
From where you are standing you can see one of his glowing eyes twitch. You stare at Knellmourne, at this ill placed time, a tickle decides to bubble in your throat. You cough in the empty silence. The effect is very much akin to hearing someone cough in a silent auditorium or a library.
Knellmourne raises up indignantly, "Where are those blasted–" He growls, weapon dropping to his side in a reverberating thud. Your gaze is distracted from the looming figure to a small piece of paper that appeared out of thin air. It flutters through the air before settling gently on the ground in front of you. Your legs bend so that you can stoop to pick it up. While Knellmourne stands with his bulky arms crossed, tapping his foot impatiently as he waits for reinforcements. You look at the post card in your hands, reading the letter.
"They're on vacation."
"What?"
You look up and wave the letter.
"You're guards. They are on vacation. They sent you a postcard."
You stand and take uneasy steps towards the big knight. Handing the rectangular piece of paper to the dark creature. He snatches the paper from you, squinting to read the postcard. On the front in swooping pink letters it read “Fun in the Sun!” And there was the skeletal army in the photo. The few that were captured in the picture were laying on beach chairs wearing sunglasses and floral t-shirts. One was holding up a coconut half that had a little pink umbrella in it.
“Vacation— VACATION?!” His deep voice booms in outrage, you make a wide eyed expression and shrug. How would you have any idea of knowing that? You were supposed to be a prisoner. You watch the great knight’s bluster crumble, sitting down on his ghoulish throne and putting his helmed head in his clawed hands in exasperation. You rub the back of your neck truly unsure of what to do. You reach out a tentative hand, awkwardly patting the shoulder of the monstrous suit of armor.
“I. . . I'm sure you have all sorts of other traps that will catch trespassers." You say, looking around for inspiration. “Like those creepy shadowy things.” Your gaze fell to the grizzly weapon he had tossed aside like it was a toy. "And you still have. . . your morning star."
"I do love my morning star," Came a muffled harrumph. You regret mentioning that immediately, not wanting to become a messy smear across the castle floor, but you continued to try and stay positive.
"You're army won't be gone long I'm sure, how long were they supposed to be on vacation anyway?"
You give a small encouraging smile as the horned helmet swivels to look at you. "You are. . . a strangely kind human, I shall be sorry to have to kill you."
You take a cautionary step back, "But do you actually have to kill me?" You respond earnestly. Someone behind you clears their throat.
“Are you. . . Are you two done?” The hero passes their gaze awkwardly between Ignatius and you. “Is this a bad time. . . Should I. . . come back?”
Knellmourne glowing eyes blink, “Oh, no, no, you are perfectly fine.” He clears his throat politely, his fingers curling into the throne's wooden arms before standing, his cape flaring out dramatically.
The figure looks relieved, "Did you really have to drag me across the castle with those vestiges?" They complained. "It’s a bother to go running around here all the time."
"Yes," Ignatious replies gleefully, picking up their gruesome weapon. "Yes it was very nessicary."
“I think you’re just avoiding the inevitable,” The human snorts, unsheathing their sword.
You scramble out of the way as the two move to close the gap and collide into one another. Knellmourne was incredibly strong, as well as fast, but their small adversary was able to keep one step ahead of them. Tucking and tumbling past the morning star that shook the floor with every hit.
“Hold. Still!” Knellmourne huffed, pivoting on their heels, as the human figure darts around them.
“Hah! You should have picked another weapon!”
There was something that was weird about their fight, something that seemed off. when you saw it again you blinked. Knellmourne was missing, on purpose. It was the briefest of movements, but as the duo turned a certain way you caught it. The dark armored figure aimed purposefully behind the small hero. The slightest of hesitation as he moved, redirecting his attack to be slightly off, leaving the human unharmed. He parried all of the attacks directed at him flawlessly. A surprising deft hand at handling such a large weapon. Yet, when it came time to deliver his own assault, he slowed.
Preoccupied with tracking the smaller figure, the dark knight twisted their body to far to keep up pace with their adversary and accidentally ended up getting their legs tangled. Glowing eyes going round as he off balance and falls to the ground.
"Told you you should have picked a different weapon." The figure goads.
Knellmourne snorts in defiance, before his glowing eyes shift wearily to the blade in the hero's hands. Watching the owner prepare for one final thrust between the dark knights eyes.
You look around for a weapon, grabbing a broom from the wall. As you watch the hero draw back their blade in slow motion. Unlike when you had seen the armor clad lord of the castle fight, you can see no hesitation in the human's eyes. You do, perhaps the dumbest thing you have done during your whole stay at Castle Knellmourne. You take the broom and whack the heroic figure with it.
They lose their balance, and accidentally throw their weapon. Staring at you aghast.
"A-Are you an idiot?"
You wonder the same thing. Your eyes momentarily flickering to look at the broom in your hands.
"I am trying to rescue you! What are you thinking?"
An itch of irritation races up your scalp and your eyebrows furrow. "What if I don't want to be rescued! Actually, who ever said I wanted to be? Maybe I don't need to be! Perhaps I am perfectly fine here on my own."
"But you've been kidnapped?!"
You raise the broom over your shoulder like a baseball bat. "Oh for the love of, I have just about heard enough of that! If I am a prisoner, why am I allowed to come and go when I please??"
The hero takes one look from you to the castle's dark lord who is lying on the floor looking equally dumbfound.
"This place is a madhouse–" The hero breathed, “I’m going to finish what I started, whether you are coming with me or not!” They move to reclaim their sword, fingers just about the grasp around the grip. Then the next moment they were gone. A large dark hole had opened up into the floor and they had been engulfed by the trap door.
You slowly lean over to peer down at the dark abyss that opened up mere inches before you.
"Do. . . I. . . want to know where. . . this goes to?"
Knellmourne rises to their feet, looking all in all, quite cheerful despite their close encounter with death.
"It leads to the castle lake, it's a shallow one of course. Only a waist deep.” He chortles, as if that were the most amusing thing to send hero’s that invaded his home.
"To the lake? Not to some kind of death pit or. . . ? You're not worried they'll finish what they started? What if they come back?" Knellmourne's laughter fills the throne room.
"Heavens no!" The booming voice scoffed, "If I killed my adversaries, I wouldn't have any left! Besides, they can't kill me anyway,"
The great knight lifts up their helmet. Glowing eyes disappearing as little purple ghosts flit up from the armor.
"I'm already dead!"
You stare at the headless apparition. No face underneath the dark armor, heck, there was no head, no neck. Just a ghoulish emptiness.
" I–, " You began, at a loss for words.
"If I took victims they would just hover around here bothering me," His voice echoed eerily from his chest cavity. "I shall avenge my death, you won't get away with this forever, blah, blah, blah! They would be stuck here with me indefinitely, then what would I do?
You blink and think about that for a moment. "You would. . . take over a town I guess?"
"Take over a town." He mused, setting his helmet back onto his shoulders. His eyes flickering to life again, "I do like the sound of that, hah! Perhaps I shall! You can only have so many battles before it all runs together."
Your eyebrows shoot up, not for the first time, and by no means the last. You became an honorary underling of the dark spirit, after that day. There was even a ceremony, with the whole skeletal army when they had returned. They sat in rows of chairs at the celebration. They popped champagne and cheered, the first human amongst their thrall. It was also, as you could imagine, quite unpleasant watching dark skeletons drinking booze. They made an absolute mess of the mess hall and were ordered by an extremely irate dark lord to clean up the spillage.
One of the very first strategic meetings you appeared for, was to discuss your idea about invading and conquering the nearest village. You stood politely amongst the skeleton committee, listening to the banter.
"A whole town is an awful lot my lord," one began. "That would take a lot of planning."
“Perhaps we should start smaller,” another of his skeletons commented.
“S-smaller?” Ignatius stutters, “But I—“
"What about a merchant stand?” Says one, “If you control one of those you’ll surely have your wicked claws in the economy.”
"How about a hot dog cart?" Another pipes up, A murmur of agreement runs through the other skeletons. You bite your lip to stop from smiling, watching Ignatius sink further back into the purple velvet cushions of his throne. A clawed finger tapping against the arm rest as he squints in annoyance.
This surely was going to be a long debate.
